Bruce was born the youngest of five children on February 14, 1968. Growing up
in central Massachusetts, developed an interest in the arts at an early age. At eight, he came to know Jesus Christ as his
Lord and Savior. At nine he started playing drums and at 13, he appeared in his first professional theatre production, "Of
Mice and Men" as Crooks. He performed at the Guild Players Touring Company of New England for 2 and a half years. During
high school he performed in the musicals, "South Pacific", "Li'l Abner" and "Guys and Dolls"
starring as Nathan Detroit.
At
the age of 17 in his junior year of high school, Bruce enlisted in the Massachusetts Army National Guard in order to help
pay for college. In January 1987, Bruce started his first year at Salem State College, Salem, MA, and appeared in the third
production of "Man in a Raincoat". Other performances were "Saint Joan of the Stockyards" by Bertolt Brecht,
"Hair", and "Little Shop of Horrors". During his college years he also appeared in musical performances
with the Salem State College Concert and Jazz Bands, The Salem State College Early Music Ensemble and his own band The Tiles.
Bruce
was commissioned as a U.S. Army Lieutenant in May of 1990 and began serving in the National Guard as a fully commissioned
officer. He left Salem in 1991 to start a business to finance his career
so he could choose acting jobs that did not violate his Christian beliefs. In August 1994 Bruce married Annastasia Greer and
they had a daughter over a year later. Bruce took a hiatus from the theater for personal reasons
until 1995 he was cast as an extra and hired as the Military Advisor for the prestigious American Repertory Theater's
production of "Henry V". In 1997, he appeared at the African Meeting House, in Boston as Frederick Douglass in an
original production written by Paul Bogan.
In
2001 Bruce was promoted to the rank of Captain, but 2003 was a year that would change his life forever. In February
of that year, his unit was called to active duty and sent to Iraq. For the next 15 months Bruce was a full time
soldier. Once he returned from Iraq, Bruce began speaking, teaching and entertaining.
Bruce performs
as a family-friendly stand up comedian and will be appearing at open mike nights in the New England area. He is hosting
his own online radio show on Blog Talk Radio.com.
